Ruby is a very sweet girl. She is timid, but she will come around. No one knows what happened to make her so frightened, but when she learns how much we all love her and then finds a family of her very own things will be much better for Ruby.
Ruby is making progress. She knows the routine here and she very much likes knowing what will happen next. She does what the other dogs do and she plays very well with the other dogs. She is allowing me to pick her up a little easier all the time, but it is still scary for her. When I scratch her on the head she sometimes forgets she is supposed to be so scared. We will continue to work with Ruby. She deserves to be a happy little dachshund and we will get her there.
Please note: Ruby will need a fenced yard to keep her safe!!!
2/22/10 Ruby still very much needs a fence, but she is starting to follow me around the house with the rest of the group. She comes into the living room and checks us out instead of hiding in the kitchen. She even wags her tail? It is slow progress, but with these special ones every little step is very special.
