Harley

Harley came to us as a foster to start with, we thought he would work with our dogs because we have a blind double dapple dog so we had some experience with the more challenging dogs. Everyone that has seen Harley loves his coloring, but being deaf, he presented some special problems, as we had to learn gestures to command him. Some days we thought Forrest Gump was a more fitting name for him! As he settled in, he got along with our blind doxie, they learned how to play hide and seek together-not too hard to hide from a blind dog. They also walk well together always right by each other. It did not take long to see that as entertaining as Harley was, there was NO way we were going to let him leave our home. On June 30th for an anniversary gift my dad gave my mom Harley. Although some days Harley maybe a challenge with his antics like: being pidgeon-toed, snorting like a bull at the door when you shut it, or taking a huge belly flop into the bed about 2:00 a.m., or the best spinning in circles for his supper. We know we could never part with him. He is a permanent member of our “herd” of doxies. *Marchand Family & Harley’s new buddies

Stan

Stan and Elmo (known as just Mo now) are doing great. When they aren't playfully wrestling with each other, Stan is sniffing around the house exploring, when not on my lap and Mo is chewing on his multiple toys around the house. We had an interesting first couple weeks with Stan and Mo, because of the new situation. They barked for 5 minutes at a time whenever someone new came into the house. However, now they only bark for a few seconds when someone new comes into the house. As far as house training, we are about 80% there with only a couple accidents a week (usually by the back door). By about 8 o'clock every night, both of them have found their way onto my lap on the couch, usually laying on top of each other. It is obvious Stan and Mo have become best friends in the past 4 months and their relationship will only grow with time. Both of them have really formed their own personalities while in Fergus Falls and we have recently found out that Stan has a Huskie Heart in him. He tries to run through snow 2 feet deep, seeming to do it for fun. Mo doesn't like the snow as much, but doesn't mind chasing Stan if Stan makes the trail first. These two have been a great addition to our family and they are fitting in with my parents two dachunds very well when I bring them over for a playdate! Hope all is well and thank you for all you do for these great animals! Here are some pictures of the boys. Let me know if you get this message and that the pictures came through ok. Thanks again! Butch

Frank (formerly Bruno/Butch) has just fit right in so well, we nearly forgot it hasn't even been a year yet :) Frank is in great shape. He is a big fan of squeeky toys and picking on his big brother, Bruno (the bassett hound). It's been a little chilly this year so he and Lilly (the cat) enjoy taking turns sleeping in front of the heat register. Frank is a pillar of health with a great appetite! He's gained a pound or 2 during the winter, but spring is coming soon. Enjoy the pics!

Checkers

She was an angel last night. We introduced her to Daisy and they are already pals, and Chester- he likes her too. The other two boys might need a little more time and we are going to introduce her to them one at a time tonight. I think we already love her. She is so sweet. She decided the fireplace isn't scary, it's warm. Maria L. Kendle
