MR BEAN
Mr. Bean (Bean for short) is a 4 year old long haired sable miniature dachshund male who came to Dakota Dachshund Rescue as a breeder surrender.

He was neutered and had a full dental cleaning on November 17, 2020.  He has had his shots and is Heartworm Negative.  He seems to be allergic to Hearthguard (diahrrea), so he should be tried on Iverheart Max.  HW meds are given on the first of every month.  At some point, his tail was broken about 2” from the end.  His long hair hides it and it doesn’t seem to bother him.

Mr Bean is the least food motivated dachshund I have ever met!  He turns his nose up at treats of all kinds; doesn’t seem interested in peanut butter or any of the usual rewards.  Since his teeth have been cleaned, he eats his regular kibble quite well.  He currently eats either NutraSource or Pure Harmony kibble – ½ cup morning and evening with a small amount of water on it.
He sleeps well in his crate next to our bed from about 10:30 til 5:30 with no accidents.  He has been really good with potty training but has had a few accidents.  We have been keeping a belly band on him to discourage marking, since we have two other fixed males in the house.

He does not bark much, but when he does it is quite loud.  He likes to be outside in the yard but we are very careful with the gate.

He will come to me, but not to my husband.  When I call him, he will sit down and wait to be picked up.  He doesn’t know about steps, especially going down them.  He will climb the dog stairs to the couch, but tries to leap off when he wants down.  We have not tried leash walking yet but, given his long back and small size I would definitely recommend a harness rather than just a leash on the collar.
He doesn’t seem to have any idea about what to do with the toys he’s been given.  We have found him chewing on blanket labels and the plastic dog dishes.  He might just need more time.  He enjoys our dogs and follows our other long haired male from room to room so he can keep me in sight.  His favorite spot in the world is on my lap or snuggling with the other dogs.

Are you that special home for Bean? He is 4 years old, he weighs 12 pounds, his adoption fee is $350 plus sales tax $15.75=$365.75
