Fred will go back to VMC Thursday for his patent ductus arteriosus closure. Check in time is 6 a.m.

Monday Nov 3rd: I just got off the phone with Dr Tanner, he saw Fred on admission to EVH as well as he is with Dr Stauthammer and the Cardiology team seeing our little Fred.

Fred is doing well today, transitioning to oral Lasix(diuretic) and Vetmedin, as long as he stays local/close to VMC he is being discharged this afternoon!

Valerie is willing to foster Fred, she was part of his transport team, she has adopted from DDR, and she helped with local fostering Bernard when he was there.

Sunday update:  Little Fred needs his prayer warriors!

Little Fred is doing ok but having some issues.

Admit heart rate was 240, now it is 260 with the Lasix on board, he is working hard to keep his oxygen levels up if they take him out of the oxygen tent so they put him back in

He has to wear an e-collar otherwise he tries to chew his IV tubing; they have to take it off hourly so he can drink water from his bowl. He won't eat their puppy food, they are feeding him baby food and chicken to get him to eat.

Dr Risi needs to taper his Lasix so it doesn't harm his kidneys but needs to keep it where it is right now to try to reverse his congestive heart failure.

Staff is doing hourly checks on him.

She needs to draw blood work to look at Fred's kidney values but needs to wait as they are already pulling of fluid and he is so small his blood volume is small so they can't take off too much fluid between Lasix and blood draw.

She did reiterate Fred is critical.

Saturday evening.... Dakota Dachshund Rescue's Fred needs your help!

All 1.8 pounds of this tiny man needs prayers, many prayer warriors and support!

Fred has a very bad heart murmur he had an echocardiogram which showed a patent ductus arteriosus(vessel that should have closed at birth, and it didn't) so his heart is blood volume overloaded and it's causing poor heart function and backing up blood into his lungs

1.8 pound Fred was transported, by amazing DDR volunteers, to Veterinary Medical Center ER St Paul this afternoon

Fred was whisked away for supplemental oxygen on arrival.

Please pray for our little Fred!

He is tiny and he needs his patent ductus arteriosus ligated soon to take the volume loaded off his heart and protect his lungs.

Both of Fred's back legs have a genetic defect called genu recurvatum which means his knees did not develop so his legs don't bend which means he cannot use his back legs.

Fred needs prayer warriors as well as support angels to donate for his care.

Every dollar counts trying to save little Fred!

Cash, checks sent to Dakota Dachshund Rescue, Venmo or PayPal ....please help if you can...little Fred is counting on all of us!

My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as his EVH stay at VMC/UMN, his patent ductus arteriosus closure procedure, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter, dental if needed and microchipping.

Special Needs: Bilateral genu recurvatum Bad heart murmur, echo shows PDA, volume overload, decreased heart function, moderate mitral regurg
