THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Chester
"When we decided to get a fur baby, we looked around for a long time, and at a LOT of different breeds. But then we found a group that rescued doxies. For our lifestyle and home, we came to the decision that that kind of dog would be the best fit for us. What sealed the deal was the picture of the most adorable, brown-eyed little boy we'd ever seen. Those stereotypical sad looking eyes that make anyone melt, even a halfway tough guy like me, sold us completely. From the moment we met him till the last breath he took, he was part of our family. He was a "wonderful" protector, if not maybe a little over protective. And he never, up until the last couple years, was found without a toy in his mouth or next to him while he was sleeping. And when our daughter was born, he was so gentle with her, never once nipping at her, no matter what. As time went on and she got old enough, he would perk up as soon as she came down the steps because he knew it was food time. He's going to be very, very sorely missed. Rest easy Chester, and we'll see you when we cross over that bridge."
Nitzel or as we would call her our Nitzypop was a loving dog who would greet you everyday with a wag and a lick and once you settled in she would cuddle or take over any chair she deemed hers. We fell in love with her quirky personality and those ears would just make you laugh how she could stand them up and I do mean straight up. She had the biggest eyes that always said she loved her owners and her roommate. She started having health issues a few weeks back and was not living to her fullest we did all we could do to keep her happy, we had taken her to the vet to have her tested when her neck swelled up to only be told that she had cancer in her lymph nodes. We are sad to say that the vet did everything he could but he felt it beat to let her gain her angel wings and set her free from the pain. RIP baby girl and run free.
Oscar came to DDR with a very sad story. It really seemed he had not been loved or cared for at all. I got the honor of getting to pick him up from the vet clinic after his neuter and dental. I really didn't know what to expect cause he was a little bigger boy. Turned out he was an amazing boy. He stole my heart immediately. He was so happy to be loved - he followed me everywhere with his tail wagging. Always a smile and a kiss to share. Sadly I didn't get to foster him for very long. He went into congestive heart failure and we lost him. We will always love Oscar. He seemed he would be a perfect addition to our own family. We are very glad we got to know him if only for a while.
