THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Mimi joined our family after one of our beloved dogs, Duchess, passed away and our remaining dog, JJ was so lonely as he was not used to being the only dog. We got Mimi as a foster dog to “test drive” her and see how she and JJ would get along. When it appeared she was the balm to JJ’s wounded heart, we made her an official member of the family. Mimi earned the nickname Mimi Houdini after escaping from our fenced in backyard (only once) and multiple times from my mom’s fenced in yard. Her description on the DDR site said “I love to give kisses”. We had no idea how true a statement that was. Mimi was an equal opportunity licker – anyone, anything, any dog – it had to be taste tested. She was the best little barrel roller ever! She could get her ear to stand straight up. When she got too hot from lying under the covers, she would get out and just flop over on the floor. She was a special pup and we will miss her very much. 
Lulu came to DDR in January of 2010. Pat and I were lucky enough to get to foster her since that time. The word that best describes Lulu is happy. She trotted along her way having been through every nasty thing in her past, developing extreme dry eye and then bladder cancer. Every day - no matter what - her footsteps were happy and her tail was wagging. She was truly an amazing foster. I wish that I was better at following in the way she lived. The day she passed away her steps were still happy and her tail wagging. I got to hold her and rock her that day until she passed away. She was a true blessing in our lives. 
A little memorial about Chelsea. Chelsea you had a lot of spunk! I knew you were meant to come home with us. You fit right in with our family. We loved the way you would chase your tail and bark at yourself :) we would laugh so hard, you gave us such joy. We loved you so. I loved the way you would sleep next to me and snore. The way you would sleep on your bed and sprawl out always made me smile. You were Taylor's sister as she would often call you. We miss you terribly, but we know you are with shania and Tina and she's introduce d her to you and I'm sure shania said thanks for caring for my sister while I wasn't able to 
There are so many people that loved and cared for Luke there is no way to begin to write what he meant to everyone. I know his fosters Mavis and Jim loved him so very much. They took such gentle care of him - he truly knew he was loved. Pat and I were blessed to foster him for a while as well. He had such a big heart. I remember the first day we picked him up to come into DDR. He was named Luke Skywalker and the double dapple that came with him was Princess Leah. He truly lived up to his name. He was a hero to all of us and very much loved. 
Tina you were the light of our lives for the past two years and five months. You made us smile every day we got to spend with you. You were a treasure and our lives will never be the same. You stole our hearts! Tina and Taylor miss you dearly and keep asking when you are coming back :( There will never be another like you! This morning I went to feed you and then thought I heard you whining for me before I realized you are no longer with us. We miss you sweet girl, you will always be with us in our hearts. I miss how you followed me everywhere and you loved chasing rabbits, you were fast. Loved how you would jump at my legs because you wanted on the couch to eat popcorn :) Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
