THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Sadie came to DDR as an owner surrender. She and Chloe were sisters that loved to be together. Sadie was always the quiet one that loved to sit on the couch next to you as her sister played ball. Sadie was such a snuggler, she never asked for much, just a pet or a hug and a place next to you wherever you sat. Sadie was such a beautiful girl! She will be missed terribly by her foster mom who adopted Sadie shortly before she passed away. Thanks Tonya for giving a senior girl a home of her own in her golden years! Sadie knew she had your heart the first time you threw a birthday party for her.
Sassy Sue was a very sad senior girl as her owner had passed away, she ended up outside alone and in need of medical attention. A very kind lady took her in, got her the much needed medical attention and then helped her find her way to DDR. Sassy Sue was given a wonderful loving foster home and more medical attention while she was in DDR. Unfortunately was more ill than anyone knew, she always searched for her owner and we know she is now happy as she joined her owner at the Rainbow Bridge.
Rosie was such a sweet girl. She never asked for much, she just wanted to be next to you on the couch and she knew she was loved. Rosie died very unexpectedly, we took her into our vet's office for a sore neck, we had been treating her for an ear infection. The vet had called and said we needed to change her treatment and I could pick her up after work. osie passed away 10 minutes after I arrived. Rosie was a stray in Plainsville, Nebraska, and her time was up at the shelter. A kind lady saved Rosie but couldn't keep her so she called us. Rosie was obviously a breeder girl. Her insides were full of infection when we took her to get spay, and she had to have several teeth pulled. She also had some scars that made us believe she was attacked by an animal or perhaps the breeder tried to get rid of her. Rosie was one of the sweetest dachshunds I have ever met, she is greatly missed.
Mitch was our first family pet. He was our first adoption from DDR and one of the most memorable dogs we’ve ever met. With his constant smirk and three-legged trot, he always brought joy to our lives. He loved to play with our other dachshund, Mikey, who we also received from DDR. Before Mikey came along Mitch would spend his days sleeping, eating, sleeping, and occasional bark at the neighbor kids. Mikey got his lazy butt moving a little bit! After our daughter was born in September he loved to cuddle with her and lick all the extra drippings of milk from her face. Mitch began refusing food (and Mitch LOVED to eat) so we took him to the vet. He was diagnosed with immune mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) and died soon after. Coincidently my mother died about a week prior after a year long battle with ovarian cancer. Mitch absolutely loved my mom, and I can admit he got more excited to see her than he did our family. We are going to miss Mitch so very much! I miss him under the blanket as we watch TV and the excitement when we would get his bowl of food ready.
