The Sioux Falls Stampede Game on February 29th will have Weiner Dog Races during the 1st Intermission. Second Chance Rescue and Dakota Dachshund Rescue will be in the front lobby. A special "Pet Rescue Package" of 10 ticket vouchers are available for $125.00 with portions of the costs benefiting Second Chance Rescue and Dakota Dachshund Rescue. The vouchers are good for any Stampede Game. Rally To Rescue Saturday August 9th, 2008 10:00 AM until 05:00 PM Location: PetSmart Map: Sioux Fals SD See all of the animals attending this event. Every dog has its day and this Saturday rescue dogs are the sole focus of an adoption event and community fair. Dog Days of Summer Rally to Rescue will feature dogs of all breeds looking for a new leash on life. This event is being held to raise awareness and funds for pet rescue groups who work daily to help homeless dogs find permanent homes. Pit Rescue of the Great Plains , an Ambassador for the Purina® Pro Plan® Rally to Rescueâ„¢ program, is hosting the event on Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 10 am to 5 PM under the tents at the Sioux Falls Petsmart Store. Germanfest Saturday September 13th, 2008 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM Location: Downtown Map: Sioux Falls SD See all of the animals attending this event. Germanfest is a true celebration of german culture with food ,beverage, and yes those comical little german kids called dachshunds. WE WILL BE THERE ALL DAY AND HAVE PLANNED SOME FUN EVENTS. We will host "weiner dog races" starting at 2:30 pm. Race Registration begins at 2:00 or...stop by just to watch the fun! Please remember that all dogs must be a leash and owners are responsble for "cleaning up" after their animals. We will have some of our adoptable "Dachshund Kids" there. We have asked 2 Very "Hot" German Bar Maids to take them on walks and sell KISSES for a $1.00. Our Volunteer Dachsie Drivers will be rotating different "Fur Babies" during the day. This way every 2 hours you can see a different Weiner Pup from DDR. Click on the "animals attending" to see these cuties. We do not know when a particular Dachsie will there. We are holding a raffle for some great merchandise and services. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Raffle winners need not be present to win. Puppies in the Park is being sponsored by the Brandon Valley Optimists Club.fron 9:00am to 12:00pm. It's basically having kids come to the park with their dog, learn training and how to socialize. There will be a pet food nutrition segment by Dog and Cat Pet Food Palace; an agility and grooming demo. The basic concept is to teach kids to be good pet parents and tht having a dog is not free. There will be a "Pet Parade" at the end and everyone will get a "participation ribbon". DDR will be there to increase our presence in Brandon and possibly get some new fosters. For a day, everyone is Irish – or in the case of our dachsies “German-Irish”! Come join us on March 17th in downtown Sioux Falls, as we walk with our dachsies in the 33rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade! The more dachsies the better! Whether you are fostering a dachsie, have a Dakota Dachshund Rescue alum, or just love the dachsies and have your own, we’d love to have you walk with us. Don’t have a dachsie, but love the breed and want to help? No problem! We need you! The more volunteers the better! We have signs to carry, we have our DDR banner, we have a float, and yes, we have dachsies! The more the merrier! The parade begins at 2:00 p.m., averages about 1.5 hours, and is just over a mile long. If you are 16 or older, all you need is a $3.00 St. Patrick’s Day button to walk in the parade. You can purchase these in advance at the Chamber of Commerce or many downtown businesses. They will also be available the day of the parade. Sioux Falls' Canaries are only having ONE Bark in the Park Night this year, so this is your chance folks! $ 11.00 - YES, Really - $ 11.00 will get you AND your pup into the ballgame! These are bleacher seats, and you're welcome to sit out on the berm in you prefer. Roll in the grass. Have some fun! It’s Happy Hour at the Bird Cage too! Buck a beer until 7:00 p.m. ($ 2.50 after that.) Gates open at 6:00, so come early, grab a cold one and stop by to meet some of our Hot Dogs! No mustard needed! We have many adoptable dachshunds looking for their forever homes, and they’ll be there to greet you when you come to the game, so be sure to stop by. Kisses are free! There are also several Doggie Contests planned for the night: Largest Dog – Any dachsies out there have a Great Dane for a sibling? Smallest Dog – Tell them to get low . . . like when they’ve spotted a crumb out of reach! Best Costume – We’ve seen the costumes at the Stampede games, so we’re super excited! Just stop by the Gazebo the night of the game to sign up your dachshunds, and any other lucky dogs you bring out to the ball park. The Gazebo is by the main gate. The more the merrier! So don’t delay. Order your tickets now! Ticket forms must be submitted by Wednesday, June 26th for DDR to receive credit! Remember: $ 5.00 from each $11.00 ticket SOLD IN ADVANCE using the DDR Form will go to Dakota Dachshund Rescue. Because if we sell more tickets using the DDR Form, than the Humane Society does using theirs, we would win the proceeds from every $ 5.00 Doggy Ticket sold the night of the game! Now we’re not letting the fur fly by any means =), either way the money goes to good organizations committed to helping rescued and sheltered pets in the Sioux Falls area, but we have to be honest, our dachsies are still crossing their paws below their tummies that we win!
